ambition and perfection
The history of the Zufanek distillery began in the early 1990s. Within about 10 years, a flourishing distillery with a considerable area under cultivation for fruit and herbs developed from wine and fruit cultivation and a metal processing company.
The White Carpathians are a region shaped by agriculture. It takes quite a while to get there and there aren't any major cities just around the corner. This is the home of Martin Zufanek.
According to Martin, it was Absinthe Duplais that led him to produce absinthe himself. Because everything he had tasted before was what one rightly imagines as Czech absinthe. However, this Swiss absinthe was of such high quality that Martin became ambitious. Today Martin Zufanek distills absinthe on the same level as the best producers from Switzerland and France.
It is precisely this ambition that he demonstrates with all other products. It's about uncompromising quality, about originality and at the same time about a reasonable price level.
The new distillery from Holstein
Martin Zufanek knew right from the start of his work as a distiller that the distilleries from Arnold Holstein in Markdorf on Lake Constance are the best in the world. However, it took 15 years before he could afford such a system! On March 15, 2015, Martin Zufanek visited the plant manufacturer to discuss his specific requirements with the on-site experts. It's all about the preservation of aromas by means of distillation. Therefore, only the best possible facility that Holstein could build came into question. Details were discussed, drawings made and in the end two 300 liter stills were ordered. On January 12, 2016, the eagerly awaited stills arrived and were installed in the newly constructed still house. Production capacity has doubled since then. But what is much more important: Nobody in the Czech Republic can produce in this quality!
