Vittorio Zoppi and Filippo Antonelli are the driving forces behind Antica Torino Vermouth, a product deeply rooted in their personal stories and the rich tradition of Italian winemaking.
Vittorio Zoppi found his inspiration in the memories of his grandmother Iole, with whom he spent many summers. As a child, he secretly tasted her vermouth, a drink she particularly enjoyed. Those early experiences stayed with him until 2014, when a liquor store owner in San Francisco, California, asked him about vermouth. Vittorio then began an intensive phase of study and research, which led to the bottling of Antica Torino Vermouth two years later. Previously, Vittorio worked for twenty years building and managing distribution networks in North America for wine and liquor producers.
Filippo Antonelli, who joined the project a few months after Vittorio, brings with him his own deep connection to the history and culture of vermouth. As a child, he spent his late summers with his grandmother Elena in Colleretto Giacosa, in the Canavese area of Piedmont. There he developed a preference for vermouth, inspired by his evenings with the chef Giovanni. Filippo, whose mother comes from Canavese, is also strongly linked to Piedmont through his great-grandfather Giuseppe Giacosa, Puccini's librettist. He manages wine production in the family businesses Antonelli San Marco in Umbria and Castello di Torre in Pietra near Rome and exports these world-famous quality wines internationally.
Together, Vittorio Zoppi and Filippo Antonelli combine their deep knowledge and passion for wine to create Antica Torino Vermouth - a drink that carries the essence of their family heritage and the excellence of Italian viticulture.
