Hiebl Piedmont Hazelnut Spirit, Oak-Aged — 40 % vol, 35 cl
The world's finest hazelnut — then time in oak.
The base is the Piedmont hazelnut, for many the finest there is: round, intense, deeply roasted. Nuts cannot be fermented, so they are steeped in alcohol and then distilled — a "Geist". This one was then left to mature in an oak cask.
Why the cask
Time in wood takes the edges off the spirit and lends it warmth: vanilla, toast and a hint of spice settle around the nut aroma without overpowering it. A clear nut spirit becomes a round, deep digestif.
Aroma & taste
Roasted hazelnut, nougat and a touch of marzipan on the nose. Full and warm on the palate — the nut at the centre, framed by vanilla and fine toasted oak. Dry, not a liqueur but a true spirit, with a long, nutty finish.
How to enjoy it
Neat at around 16–18 °C in a brandy glass. An after-dinner digestif that pairs beautifully with chocolate, pastries or a good cigar.

His aim is simple to state and hard to achieve: preserve the character of a fruit in its original form and concentrate it in the glass — until aroma, colour and taste become one. Nothing added from the outside, no shortcuts. Only the best raw fruit, carefully handled.
Single-variety by conviction
The range holds over 100 different fruit brandies and liqueurs. Hiebl specialises in single-variety distillation — especially of apples and pears — so each variety keeps its own character instead of disappearing into a blend.
Craft Distillery of the Year 2026
At Craft Spirits Berlin 2026, Europe's most important competition for craft spirits, Hiebl prevailed against 120 distilleries from 17 nations to take the overall title: Craft Distillery of the Year 2026. From 47 entries came four "Best in Class" golds, plus 19 further gold, 20 silver and 8 bronze medals — on top of several earlier "Distiller of the Year" honours.
