Peureux

August Peureux founded his distillery in 1864 in Fougerolles at the foot of the Vosges. The distillery specializes in fruit distillates, such as the Fougerolles cherry. The quality of the distillery was already appreciated at the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris. Claude Peureux takes over the management of the company from Andre Peureux in 1948. He builds on the great tradition of eaux de vie and liqueurs. In the 1950s, the company conducted research into agri-foods. In 1955 he introduced the griottes (schnapps cherries) to the praline manufacturers. In 1980 Giottines came along, a brand that is now one of the foundations of the company.
