Fruit brandy - the versatile classic

The name already gives it away - fruit brandy, often also called fruit water or colloquially Obstler, describes a distillate based on fruit. The fruit that is used is versatile. The well-known raspberry spirit is distilled from fruity-sweet garden raspberries, and Williams Christ is made from the pear variety of the same name. Plums, apricots, blood oranges and much more are other fruity basic ingredients from which spirits of high quality are made. Every fruit brandy comes from a still, the heart of every distillery. The firing process, from still to still, is designed differently depending on the version. It is important to correctly assess the properties of the different types of fruit and to treat them accordingly. Just think of pectin-rich apples, acidic plums or citrus fruits.
