Our very special passion: absinthe!

Technically, absinthe is a herbal spirit, i.e. various herbs are macerated in pure alcohol and water at approx. 65% vol. for about a day and then distilled off. Later, the absinthe is colored green by adding special coloring herbs.

Of course, the very dry description of the manufacturing procedure does not do justice to the category, as the green fairy served as a source of inspiration for so many artists at the end of the 19th century. Be it Baudelaire, Verlaine, van Gogh or Toulouse Lautrec, they all had their own personal relationship with the mythical lady. In Emile Zola you can read about the problems that absinthe brought with it and so you can ultimately be grateful that most states put an end to the all too crazy goings-on - although the buck was wrongly foisted on absinthe here. The bohemian cult drink has been enjoying a renaissance since 1989, and we're happy to share it with you.
