Oh, Yes!
It has been some time now since I had any absinthe now. I think it was late april.
But today I got a bottle of this Soixante-Cinq, and I must say that it absolutely meet my expectations and that I really appreciate it. (I\'m trying a sip (or thirteen maybe) right now.)
Some grassy notes and good anise, fennel and especially wormwood (artemisia absinthium). I think this balance is perfect. It\'s not an anise bomb but it isn\'t too floral or flowery either. It isn\'t perfumelike or "soapy" at all, yet herbal enough. Crisp and delicate is probably how I would like to describe it in a shorter sentence.
I also feel some numbing of the tounge, and I suppose that\'s a good quality for a decent absinthe. A bit creamy too.
Besides all this the louche is, in my opinion, just perfect. And it\'s actually green(-ish). From the image (above) I got the impression that the louche would be a little vintagestyle and pre-ban yellow/brown(-ish), but not at all. It\'s the lovely "verte" that one would expect from a nice glass of absinthe.
Dilution? I used about 1:4 and... it\'s just... perfect! ;)
Old School Absinthe
Soixantcinque has an authentic flavor with an lovely aroma, full flavor and a full bodied (but very pleasant) aftertaste. This is probably the same absinthe experience that was enjoyed 100 years ago by those that could afford the best.
